As far as lasagne goes, it was healthy - the meat sauce included lots of fresh vegetables, herbs and spices. The pasta was home-made and we had added in layers of fresh spinach. And the cheese - all that yummy cheese came out of a bag from the grocery store. No idea what else was in that cheese, but it was truly a lovely topping to that lasagne!
Tomorrow I will take a different approach to eating. I won't be indulging in that cheese or homemade pasta for sure, but I will be indulging in home cooked WHOLE food.
Over the years, my healthy diet has deteriorated drastically and I am convinced that the processed foods and sugars I ingest daily are contributing to my health problems. I read It Starts With Food and have become more convinced. Then we watched Fed Up last night (as we polished off Cor's birthday cake) and I am all in and ready for a change!
So for the next 30 days, I'll be excluding dairy, grains, sugar and processed foods from my diet. I will be eating meat, eggs, vegetables and fruit, nuts and other healthy fats. I to give my body a chance to feel what good food tastes like and not be fooled by processed foods and sugar. I'll journal what we eat and how I feel. I'll also be tracking my various neurological symptoms to see if I note any changes. From what I have read, I guess it makes sense to track my sleep and energy levels too. If I am to believe everything I have read about Whole30, I may even sleep better and have more energy! Oh and no weighing in or taking measurements - this is about feeling better.
